I believe that this bug has been corrected in Ubuntu hardy
openoffice.org 1:2.4.0~rc2-1ubuntu3 so I am marking it as Fix Released.
If after upgrading you continue to have problems with this issue then
feel free to reopen this bug.

nope that doesn't help, I've also tried with a document open and
without, same problem.

is there anywhere on my system that I can find crash report files or
dumps for openoffice crashes, they do not show up in /var/crash since
openoffice handles it's own crashes.

Ubuntu 7.10 'gutsy' was in test stage when I asked about it a few weeks
ago. It has now been officially released so you should be able to
upgrade to it now.

I am usingubuntu 7.04 feisty with openoffice 2.2.0-1ubuntu4 and for some
reason the update manager hasn't told me there is a dist upgrade
available otherwise I would already be on the bandwagon :) how do I
upgrade without the notification?

version of Ubuntu and OpenOffice.org are you using that causes the crash
and if it is an older version can you check to see if the one in Gutsy
works for you?

actually it's not just business correspondence it's any choice under
templates that causes the crash
