Lockups with AMD64 4300 Dual Core and 7300, very random, but always when calling GL. Hard crash power button reset. Setting back to NV fixes. No way possible to get any reports. Going to try the new driver from nvidia site. -- Random NVidia Proprietary Driver Lock-Ups with dual core + 7300

i always feel a bit biased setting importance on a bug i suffer from. but unless anyone disagrees i think this should be high. there is not much that can be done at the moment. 169.04 is a beta release, so there is practically no chance of getting a StableReleaseUpdates currently. for an

To downgrade, in this bug report, a short procedure: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22/+bug/145112/comments/20 This should also work for the BETA driver version 169.04, which explians why it should NOT be included in the repos. -- Random NVidia

I've tried all the old drivers and the new beta and still had lockups. I noticed that one of my network cards would die when it happened. /proc/interrupts showed nvidia and eth1 sharing the same IRQ. Since moving the NIC to another slot it hasn't locked up yet (several days now). -- Random

No lockups since yesterday. It seems that NVIDIA- Linux-x86-169.04-pkg1.run is solving this issue. As for what Alvarez asked, I'm afraid you'll have to manual install. Reports say that also 100.14.09 works, but that would be downgrading. -- Random NVidia Proprietary Driver Lock-Ups with dual

Perusing synaptic (on Gutsy) only shows two different versions of 100.14.19: 100.14.19+2.6.22.4-14.9 from gutsy and 100.14.19+2.6.22.4-14.10 from gutsy-updates. So how would we downgrade to 100.14.09? -- Random NVidia Proprietary Driver Lock-Ups with dual core + 7300

All right, then, after trying different ways out from this bug I did install the new beta x86_64-169.04. It's too early to say how it's doing, but it's smooth for now. I'd also bet that 100.14.09 would do the trick as well as It was working fine before Gutsy became release and added 100.14.19.
