Yes, it is often difficult to say if it is the same bug, so therefore
filing separate bugs is better since they can be merged later. On the
other hand dealing with two different bugs in one report gets messy. So

Well, the symptoms are the same as the original reporter (no working analog
video on DVI-I).
It's a bit difficult to know a priori which issues are exactly the same...
But there is also e.g. bug 340940, should I attach the logs there?

I tried this Live CD, but it was a no go. The console worked fine at
1600x1...@85, but as soon
as X started, the monitor went into power save. Switching to a text VT worked,
but switching
back to VT7 again gave me power save mode. I'm attaching the X log.

Uhhh.. I'm currently using this desktop machine as a dual seat rig.
..so uh...
I'm not set up to use any 3d acceleration whatsoever. ..I am getting
output from both the VGA and DVI out of the card though, on Ubuntu

I don't know if this will fix this specific issue, but I've backported a
bunch of high importance patches that upstream recommended, that fix
problems sort of like this one, so I think it would be worth the time to
test. Please try this .deb and report what you find:

the entries at the end are probably caused by switching to tty1 and
back.
in case you wonder:
i made dvi and vga use the same monitor section by setting
Option "Monitor-DVI-0" "Generic Monitor"
Option "Monitor-VGA-0" "Generic Monitor"
this does _not_ affect the problem.
here's Xorg.0.log with
Option "DefaultConnectorTable"
which makes the driver report dvi-i as port0, but doesn't change the
problem either.
