Thanks for the heads up regarding the BIOS.
I haven’t updated the BIOS yet … however, the bug has disappeared for me
after the latest kernel and lightdm updates, i.e. I can log in after
suspend again. Have been testing this during the last days, and it works
flawlessly.
So this issue is FIXED as

I have the same problem with a ThinkPad X250, also with HD5500. Only
Xubuntu is affected, Ubuntu und Gubuntu work fine.
Workaround: Installation of an mainline-kernel > 4.0.1

Until there is a fix, could anyone please recommend a workaround for
this?
Every time I suspend my t450s, I estimate there is a 50% probability
that I will have this white screen problem after I wake up. Restarting
my system every time gets annoying...
