Public bug reported: I cannot install the Gutsy Beta on the HP Compaq Presario SR1620NX (Sempron 2GHz, 512MB RAM, 160GB HDD) with ATI Radeon Xpress 200G Series integrated video.
I made numerous attempts to reinstall, using both a Dell 17" LCD (E173FPb) and a Dell 17" CATHODE-RAY TUBE, 17, DUAL, M782P and a variety of display / card settings but none are recognized. I can easily install Ubuntu 7.04, the 4/19/07 release, on this same machine using both these monitors, without any problems. While attempting to install the Gutsy Beta, I messed with enough varied combinations of displays and video drivers to get it up and running momentarily, but just long enough to see that the visual effects of composite-by-default did not work. The Restricted Drivers Manager seemed to recognize that the Radeon needed some help the brief time I was able to boot the new installation, but ultimately those settings did not stick and I couldn't find any screen resolution size that would work. I was able to install the Gutsy Beta on other computers - eMachines T4010 and a Dell Inspiron 700m - using the same installation disk (It's a really nice looking release!) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Gutsy Beta does not recognize ATI Radeon Xpress 200G Series https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145670 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
