Themicles : Thank your for your comment. Can you confirm if usplash
works in these conditions? :
1. You have set the same resolution in /etc/usplash.conf than your X resolution
2. You don't use vga=791 in your /etc/boot/menu.lst file
3. Once this is set correctly, you should run sudo update-initra
I was having the same problem as this user, and had the same output
ending in "ro quiet splash" as this user. I then noticed the user
stopped responding.
I first fixed my shutdown screen not showing by editing
/etc/usplash.conf to match the resolution set there to my laptop's
widescreen resolution

terminal? : uname -a
I would greatly appreciate since it would help us finding if your bug is a
