Actually I am pretty sure this is intended as by default pcmanfm uses lxsession-default terminal which makes a dbus connection related to lxsession which is not running in a standalone openbox session. A sinple way to get it to change the terminal is in pcmanfm goto edit prefrences and select the advanced tab. Then enter which terminal you want pcmanfm to launch.
