I did the same workaround explained by Tarjanyi and it works as a charm.
I forgot to try the Bell's patch before to see if it could be work... My
bad.

For regular folks just trying to get the install to work, edit
/var/lib/dpkg/info/volumeid.postinst as Tarjanyi recommends; the patch
does the exact same thing. It's not a workaround really, except in the
sense that it fixes your install, not the package.
