I now observed that sometimes, in a KDE application (Kate), only a newly opened dialog causes the keyboard to stop working. If I close that dialog immediately and open it again, the keyboard works normally again. So it's something window-based that causes the keyboard to stop working. (Btw - ignore

I can confirm this. I've been running Ubuntu Feisty until recently, where I used SCIM (+ KMFL). The problem only appeared in aMSN there (once in a few days). In the last few weeks, I switched to Kubuntu Gutsy and currently, this problem appears so often it's annoying (once an hour or so). I never
