Can you try deleting your .xchat directory on the machine with this
issue, do a apt-get purge xchat and reinstall it? Does this solve it?

Not an issue now I upgraded (from scratch on a new box) to heron.
But my old box that was upgraded from feisty to heron still has the same
segfault problem regardless if i remove xchat and reinstall with apt.
