Could this be a configuration problem of dasher? All that the app not does, is
catching the written words from left-hand side of the screen. In the videos
dasher does this...
That was my way:
Deinstall with Synaptic dasher-data and dasher 4.6.0;
Download dasher 4.4.1 (dasher-data dasher) from: rpmseek.com
Install with GDebi first dasher-data then dasher...
works... it catch the words right away!
Language switching result still in a program crash.
Have fun!

After inputting The quick brown fox, the program consistently stops
scrolling towards new letters. Erasing text is still possible.

I can confirm this problem.
I'm attaching a screencast of me using dasher that shows this bug. I'm
trying to enter This is a test of dasher. It gets stuck just after
of. From my memory I don't think it get stuck after the same number of
characters. However it's usually after a few words.

I have downloaded the 4.6.0 version of dasher from the dasher website
and it shows this bug, ie this is not caused by anything ubuntu has
done. The version in the ubuntu repositories is 4.6.0.
The latest stable release is 4.6.2. I downloaded and compiled that
source from the dasher website and it

I can confirm this too.
Dasher worked consistently in feisty. Upgraded to gutsy yesterday, and
now dasher is crippled.
Zooming is impossible beyond a short distance, so you can't get write
more than a few words.
