** Description changed:
When booting HP Pavilion dv6-6145eo with Ubuntu 15.04 the laptop monitor
turns off in the middle of the boot.
- If I suspend and resume the computer (close and open the lid) when I
- hear the login sound the monitor turns back on and the computers works
- just fine.
Tested Ubuntu 20.04 (kernel 5.4.0-52-generic) with the old HP Pavilion
dv6 laptop and the bug seems to still exist.
Disabling the Plymouth boot screen fixes this bug (changing
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT from "quiet splash" to "quiet" in
/etc/default/grub).
Also closing and opening the laptop lid

bug still exists.
This is odd since installing 4.2 kernel to 15.04 fixed this bug.
The bug also does not appear when booting from a live USB -stick only when
installing to the hard drive.
I still think that this
Markus Ilmola, this would appear a downstream issue, given this is

Tested 4.2 rc5 and it fixes this bug.
The laptop previously had 14.04 which did not have this bug. Also the 15.04
live CD did not have this bug.
It appeared only after installing updates.
It seems that this bug is duplicate of #1472794.
