Ludovico Cavedon:
It seems that in the meanwhile the bug returns. Your uploaded packages
didn't work for me.
here is the output:

This is a consequence of an alsa bug which affect the version in gutsy.
I could fix it by installing libasound from hardy:
https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/alsa-lib
Reference: bug #13203
There is no sound at all. Even not when "talking" to someone.

Yes, I was able to reproduce this. I'll debug it ASAP.
However, do you get no sound at all when calling? (e.g. when calling 333)
I do not get sound for dialpad, however audio for calls is working.

The output of "ldd $(which qtwengophone)" is attached.
The output of "dpkg -l | grep asound" is as follows:

Ok, could you please attach the output of:
1) ldd $(which qtwengophone)
2) dpkg -l | grep asound
Then, after ensuring wengophone is not running, remove the ".wengophone"
directory in your home folder.
Thank you for reporting!

Same problem here. I do not get any sound out of wengophone.
Installed package:
Architecture: i386
Version: 2.1.1.dfsg0-4ubuntu1
When I dial "1" I should get some dial tone. Instead, I get the
following on the console:
-
(debug) std::list >
find_alsa_devices(int): alsa_card_name: hw:0
(deb
So, is there any way to reproduce this bug? I.e.: having:
cannot set sample format: Invalid argument
can't open alsa device
in the output and getting no sound in wengophone?
I suspect that this problem was caused by an inconsistent state of installed
packages, rather than a wengophone b

I have exactly the same problem I think that the problem is more an alsa
stuff than anything else because with skype I can heard the sound but
not use the micro. I will put a bug report on alsa.

Good!
This is however strange and should have worked without reinstalling... maybe
there is a bug somewhere else...

after reinstalling wengophone, libasound* and alsa* it work now for me.
i don't know what the problem really was but i'm happy that you helped me so
much to get it working.
thank a lot for all your time.
in the future if something won't work, i'll try reinstalling at first ;)

I think there is something wrong with the alsa library in your system.
You could try reinstalling/upgrading the libasound* packages. See if
this can help http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=338934
Please reinstall allso the gutsy wengophone package and paste the output
of "ldd /usr/bin/qtwen
ALSA lib pcm.c:2106:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Cannot open shared library
/usr/lib/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_empty.so
(warn) 14:05:01 snd_pcm_t* alsa_open(const char*, int, unsigned int, int):
cannot open audio device default: No such file or directory
(warn) 14:05:01 void alsa_play_file(const char*
does'nt work too.
i think a fresh installed gutsy, i can try that next days, could be my
last chance?

Ok, it is right that WengoPhone does not work when selecting a specific
device, as that device is already being used by some application and
does not support mixing in hardware ("plughw:0" can be opened only once
at a time).
However it is not clear yo my why it fails when using "default". In
fact,
is there anything else i can try or do to help fixing the problem?
