Evan,
I solved the problem myself. I had not set up the partition on the new hard
drive properly. Once I set up the partition correctly the installation was
successful. Thanks,

Can you run the installer again using the --debug option (open a
Terminal, Applications->Accessories->Terminal, and type `ubiquity
--debug`), and attach /var/log/syslog, /var/log/installer/debug, and
/var/log/partman to this bug report, following the instructions in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/
