There's been a major performance regression in mutt for all releases
since Trusty for ~b/~B searching. I use this for highlighting messages
in my mailboxes, and this regression makes mutt nearly unusable. There's
a fix upstream for this:

Attaching a patch which I've tested against the version of mutt in
Ubuntu.
