Leann, I just tested this laptop with the Intrepid alpha 6 live CD and
everything works: booting, sound, internet... I think this bug can be
closed.

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
I don't see this issue anymore since Hardy Heron, I think the newer
kernel solves it.

Any version newer than 2.6.20 including 2.6.23 fails with same error.
I tried Mandriva 2008, Gentoo 2007.0 and fails equaly.
Also i tried Ubuntu Gutsy 64 bits, and works fine, with ACPI working 100%.

HI, I believe this problem is not in Ubuntu, but in a common part of
most of all recent dist (kernel?). I had feisty 32 bits installed in my
HP Pavilion dv6215us, AMD Turion 64, and it worked fine. Now I decide to
try other dists (just for fun) and had similar problems in Fedora 8,

I tried to boot the live cd with the option apci=off but it still
hanged a little further, when opening a new session. I couldn't see
anything on the screen but I heard the first notes of the Ubuntu theme
over and over. I also got a message saying that my pnp bios was causing
a problem and

Same as above... could only boot with acpi=off (Going to try to install
it), but i've heard that with 64bits version... it works im going to
try that too...

Ok, me again, done it, installed with almost without problems:
- The networkmanager doesnt autodetects the net (works for a while then
stops)
- Usb mouse gets disabled after a while
- If i try to switch to a tty (CTRL ALT + F1 for example) it hangs...
- Got no Sound
Im going to drive

OK, here are my outputs, commands used:

if you need any other information please let me know...
By the way, i consider this bug should be rated as hig, 'cause there are
many cases as you can see, and as far as i can guess... almost all the
V3000 series
Same behavior on HP Compaq Presario v3217LA and Gusty Final Release
