Public bug reported: When I try to install nvidia-340 or nvidia-346, machine freezes after start. In kernel log I see errors, see attached kern_log_part.txt file. Machine boots into text mode and after some time it probably tries to switch to graphics mode, shows black screen and freezes. I cannot switch back to console.
It seems related to this post: http://codeyarns.com/2015/03/30/nvidia- module-taints-linux-kernel/ but solution proposed there does not work for me. nvidia-current (nvidia-304) works fine. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-340 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-346 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-352 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "kern_log_part.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1499705/+attachment/4474297/+files/kern_log_part.txt ** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-346 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-352 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1499705 Title: NVIDIA module taints kenel, machine won't start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-340/+bug/1499705/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
