I've tried to reproduce this but i can't, I also have a Canon camera.

Hi Pedro
I select a bunch of images in Nautilus then right click and open with
f-spot. Then I click on one of the thumbnails on the left and navigate up
and down with keys. I've only tried with Canon CRW so far.
