I think this report is currently described in a general way and we need
to narrow down the description.
Does the problem only appear when one is trying to use their PPTP
(compared to VPNC, OpenVPN) account?
I had tried quite a few different options and I managed to get PPTP VPN working.

I have the same issue. I use "PPTP VPN Connection Manager". Can't get IP
from DHCP. Works once (1). Then stops working after reboot. Use
Ipredator service.
