Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release, Hardy Heron? Thanks in advance. --

The original poster seems to have used gdebi-kde, too (Binary package hint: gdebi-kde). The same for me: I've also used gdebi-kde, not gdebi as you've thought. To change the debconf frontend, you have to run sudo dpkg-reconfigure debconf from a console. This should let you change the frontend

I cannot confirm this. I've tried installing virtualbox_1.5.0-24069-1_Ubuntu_feisty_i386.deb (from virtualbox.org) and it asked me about the license (in the terminal window, which you have to first open/display). This may depend on the debconf frontend being used (see sudo dpkg- reconfigure

Sorry, I might not have been clear enough on the versions, that would be _K_ubuntu Gutsy (not straight Ubuntu) and gdei-kde. Not sure if that makes any difference. Perhaps the original poster could clarify whether there problem was with gdebi or gdebi-kde? gdebi-kde exits with the line FATAL
