I had not tested the proprietary driver yet, but it crashes when I
modprobe it. Attached is the dmesg output from that.
So neither driver works but I think this card should work with brcmfmac
(driver loads but doesn't find firmware).

To clarify, you are noting that both:
1) In a default install of Ubuntu wireless doesn't work.
2) Installing the proprietary drivers doesn't work either as outlined in
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/b
