I got an empty menu tab applications installing kde4 that removed
applications-menu from /home/usr/.config directory and replacing it be
kde-applications-merged.
I did sudo update-menus and got a debian-menu.menu installed. To solve the
missing menu I copied
When I delete .config/menus/applications.menu and link it to
/etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu it works again - but alacarte does not.
I even tried to copy a working applications.menu file from another
computer but it still doesn't work. The obvious thing is I'm running a
standard ubuntu on the
Alacarte is the menu editor in your screenshot. But if this happened
while updating... who knows what program screwed up your menu config. Do
you actually have gnome-main-menu installed?
