It affectes me on Ubuntu MATE 14.04 and is still actual on OSGeo-Live
9.5 beta 1 (a geomatic oriented iso based on lubuntu 14.04.4).
It works on microsoft windows, and the shp2sql-gui tool work on ubuntu,
so i guess it is only the calling feature that is faulty.

Hi, I have the same problem on Ubuntu 15.10 x64 Unity:
../src/common/menucmn.cpp(715): assert "!IsAttached()" failed in
SetInvokingWindow(): menus attached to menu bar can't have invoking window
I cannot use plugins from the GUI and typing on the terminal is tiresome.
