You mean you intentionally mounted it read only? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1526608 Title: package grub-efi-amd64 2.02~beta2-9ubuntu1.6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess

Not intentionally. The efi partition has to be HFS+ for ubuntu to get installed on my mac book. If there is way to reformat the partition to R/W I can do that, I am unaware of how to properly back up the /boot/efi so that my system won't become unusable. -- You received this bug notification

Could it be because the /boot/efi is HFS+ formatted and mounted as read only ? I tried re doing the same thing but there is no mention of grub- efi in syslog. If it is because of HFS+ formatting is there any work around to get this working ? Here is the output of parted -l Model: ATA KINGSTON

I believe your efi system partition is corrupt. You could confirm this by checking /var/log/syslog for more detailed errors at the time this happened, and can fix it by unmounting it and running dosfsck on it. Please let us know how this goes. ** Changed in: grub2 (Ubuntu) Status:
