Microsoft Windows, then it is probably not a HandBrake bug.

FYI Handbrake and vlc both work properly on Linux Mint Mate 17.2 and
17.3. So you don't have to wait for anything else.

HandBrake program used to work on these machines about a year ago. The
DVDs used for testing have been ripped by HandBrake previously
