Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
Feisty, updated as of today. 32-bit i386, IBM T40. The following happens to me every few days to a week: Xorg goes to 99.9% CPU. The keyboard is unresponsive, including all ctrl-alt sequences (bs, del, F1, F2, ...), keyboard shortcuts (e.g., to drop windows), etc. The mouse pointer moves, but slowly and jerkily. Mouse buttons have no effect. The screen does not refresh, so if the hang happened just after a window drop, the exposed part of the new top window does not draw. I can ssh in and act normally. I cannot get a VNC of the screen, however. Many of these occurrences happen while using openoffice's PDF save dialog box. Obviously, that application should not be able to send Xorg into a tailspin, no matter how coded, but it's a place to start. I'll attach my xorg.conf. The bug has persisted through the recent ooffice update. Unfortunately, I can't reproduce it at will. I am able to work in ooffice for long periods (days) with no problem, including using the PDF save dialog. I do have a large number of windows, including web browsers with 100+ tabs, but it doesn't seem to have to do with the browser. Xorg is handling a large number of items, however. It appears similar to bug #61250, though the fix released there should be in my package. libxfont1 1:1.2.7-1ubumtu1 xorg 1:7.2-0ubuntu11 xserver-xorg-core 2:1.2.0-3ubuntu8 openoffice.org 2.2.0-1ubuntu5 --jh-- ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- xorg busy-hangs in ooffice save dialog https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152992 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
