PowerPlay is the power management interface used by the ATI drivers to configure the power settings on their GPUs. I should be able to do aticonfig --set-powerstate 1 to throttle the GPU down to a low power mode. -- PowerPlay worked in Feisty, no longer works in Gutsy

Sorry, what is POWERplay? Besides that, to search for a file in installed packages, you would use dpkg -S file, e.g. dpkg -S aticonfig. If this returns nothing, the package apt-file might be helpful, which allows to search in all existing packages (it's in universe). apt-file showed that
