I just got the same problem with my Ubuntu 16.04. Suddenly the volume
keys stopped working. All the other keys works, but the volume keys
don't.
Even 'xev' show them. All the rest work fine.

I upgraded my PC and did a clean Ubuntu 16.04 install, and the issue has
disappeared so I've marked this bug as invalid.

I can't reproduce this any more, using :
4.6.0-994-generic
I switch to the above kernel because I was seeing this problem (well,
the volume keys weren't working) with this kernel :
4.6.0-040600rc6-generic
I'm not entirely sure what's changed/what the difference is. My laptop

Unfortunately that's probably impossible, since over 800 packages were

I tried the latest mainline kernel from that PPA, and still have the
same issue.
And actually, I installed a bunch of updates today (turns out my mirror

Christopher, I was indeed thinking of F13b. I didn't realize I had F10
installed - looks like I picked the wrong one when I was downgrading.
I just installed F12, and the behaviour is the same. Volume keys work on
a fresh boot, and stop working after suspend/resume.
Here's the output from dmideco
Furkan, to advise, F12 is not beta as per the previously provided URL.
Were you think of F13? If not, have you confirmed you tested F12 with
the issues you mentioned?

Hi Chris,
The BIOS you're referring to is a beta BIOS. I have installed it in the
past but had a memory compatibility issue with it so I reverted back.
Based on the change log of the beta BIOS, it doesn't fix any bugs (the
only change is "Update CPU AGESA Code").
