I now tested to switch to another display driver in the xorg.conf.
It seems the driver "intel" is not affected by this bug (maybe an update fixed
this), but the driver "i810" is affected by it.

This bug is still valid, I can confirm it for my ThinkPad R50e.
I guess it is a bug in the display driver from Intel, but it is _really_
horrible to me because I often close and open up the laptop lid.
The VGA compatible controller is (taken from lspci):
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel C
I can no longer reproduce this bug so it must have been fixed in a
recent update.
