I ran the command f-spot-sqlite-upgrade, and the problem disappeared.
F-spot did hang/freeze on every third picture imported though (I had to
restart and do the import again), but now all pictures are imported and
I'm happy :)

Thanks for your report, i don't get an error in the console while
importing that file, it get imported fine, it's a transparent one right?

Failed to import tiff f
It looks like it has problems with all tiff images. I created a new
(blank) image in GIMP, and it fails to import that one as well, so it is
not anything special with the images I tried to import when I found this
issue. Attaching the image I created in the GIMP.
