I am not sure exactly when they start to appear.
The configuration of NTP and the internal mirror and stuff is done
inside of the installer from the "expert" option on the CD.
Then when it is installed and up I add a few more packages from the

Sorry, not that I know of. I know that they aren't in regular desktop
and server installs, and cloud images; I haven't check the more exotic
ones like netinst recently. But aside from this, I'm still thoroughly
puzzled about *how* the debug messages are set. Do these happen right
after installation

Is there any instance in which I would see these messages under normal
circumstances?

Could be; maybe the server team temporarily enabled debug messages
somewhere/somehow on the daily images to debug something. I'm not aware
of that, but I don't closely follow what happens there either.

I have installed a new system from the server CD. I chose Expert mode
and selected a few special options but nothing too drastic (like setting
