I’m not sure but I think you should be getting the system update
notification regardless. The update won’t be automatically downloaded on
mobile data (unless explicitly instructed otherwise), but the
notification should be there anyway, I think. Might be worth a bug
report at

Ah sorry, I had missed that piece of information… Functional touch
selection is new in OTA10, so you’ll need to upgrade your device to the
latest OTA (10.1 currently) to have it working.
Closing the bug as invalid now, feel free to re-open if this doesn’t
work even after upgrading.

I just tested the link above, and I’m able to copy and paste the nonce:
- tap once on the first text area, it gets focus and all its text (the nonce)
is selected
- long press on the selected text, a context menu appears with an action to
copy the text
