I think it might be fixed. Yesterday I split apart my zfs mirror,
reattached the drive using /dev/disk/by-id and it worked without any
issues. I am using the 4.8 kernel now which has zfs 0.6.5.8. It looks
like the userland zfs tools are still at 0.6.5.7.

@Kyle, is this still an issue? I'm not sure about the fix, as it seems
to be in the current Xenial ZFS, so it should have addressed the issue
for you.
