It is fixed in karmic, it will not be fixed in jaunty. If you want the
newer package in jaunty, you can grab it from my PPA:

As I don't know the type of license for that file I decided to start an
own icon. It is attached to this comment. Feel free to use it as you
like. It's free, completely free.

If you would license the SVG file under the same license of Audacity
(GPL 2 or later) you would be on the safe side. I do not think, that
they own a trademark for it. There should be no problem, if you use this
SVG icon as application icon. Please add the copyright information into
the SVG file.

But I would be happy to license my SVG interpretation of the Audacity
logo with whatever license is most appropriate, even as far as Public
Domain. My only concern is that by distributing it I may be infringing
on the Audacity projects copyright or trademark or the original artwork.

The format of the program icon is not scalable. If you use e.g. Gnome-
Do's docky bar, the icon looks very ugly because of zoomed pixels. This
affects Jaunty as well.
Please use this SVG icon instead:
