After getting really annoyed at this bug, and it not being fixed I've found a
workaround.
Pipe all KScreen stdout and stderr to null.
Edit /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.kde.kscreen.service

Same here - although I have KDE 5.6.x backports enabled (PPA) and launchpad is
not supposed to track bugs against PPAs:
