I'm not sure about this bug, I didn't have such issue with the kernel
module from src:linux, neither with the one from src:virtualbox.

I've tested the PPA, and here's the result:

I still encountering the VERR_ACCESS_DENIED issue until I install the
previously not installed virtualbox-guest-dkms package, however the 3D
offloading problem still exist.

Indeed, you need to install virtualbox-guest-utils, not virtualbox-guest-x11
directly.
this will pick up virtualbox-guest-dkms and fix the issue.
