Hi Podsgrove,
I really understand what you mean. I told my friends too to buy HP
because before it was always running smooth with all available Linux
distros. But this is crazy. Two HP 455 Laptops with these stupid wifi
adapters. As if there were not other adapter avail.

Thanks for your reply but one look at the complications of reporting a
bug put me off. I am not a fan of Unity and had planned to install
Lubuntu but the best I have able to achieve is to install the LXDE
desktop on an out-of-date OS. This comes with the added bonus of a

When I first reported this bug I made the point that my HP455 was
purchased with Ubuntu pre-installed - and it works fine as long as you
don't try to install any other Ubuntu flavour, or for that matter
anything derived from Ubuntu or Debian. I cannot even upgrade to the
latest LTS version without
Peter Ludwig, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and
trying to help make Ubuntu better. However, Linux Mint is not a software

This apport was now generated under Linux Mint on a slightly different
HP 455 Laptop. Here are the options:
options rtl8723be fwlps=0 swlps=0 msi=1
in /etc/modprobe.d
Without the msi=1 it did not work.
Another HP laptop same Model (also HP 455 but diff look) wifi does not
work with this option.
