More: when I tried just now to put widgets on my empty desktop, the widget menu seems to think that there are widgets out there: it claims I have 5 (!!) "digital clock" and 5 "pager". Also, my chosen wallpaper is not active (but it is remembered in the menu). So - a lot is broken. -- You
