Public bug reported: In the Danish translation of the update description pop-out window of update-notifier it caught my eye (I use English locale on my own systems) that when looking at the details of a package that is to be updated the name of the package is appended with a string to form a compound noun making it hard to identify the actual package name.
Example from the attached screenshot: "Ændringer for gnome-session-common-versioner: Installeret version: 3.18.1.2-1ubuntu1 Tilgængelig version: 3.18.1.2-1ubuntu1.16.04.1" I would prefer a translation of the first line where the package name is standing out unambiguously, such as: "Ændringer for gnome-session-common mellem versionerne:" (in English "Changes for gnome-session-common between the versions:") Or if it needs to be short, completely leaving out mentioning "version" as it is quite clear from the following lines that we are dealing with a version diff. "Ændringer for gnome-session-common:" I have unsuccessfully tried to identify the translation string in the update-notifier codebase (http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/update-notifier/ubuntu/) but I guess the change description is generated by apt and thus can be found in some codebase related to it. ** Affects: update-notifier (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2016-05-27 08-45-23.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1586293/+attachment/4671138/+files/Screenshot%20from%202016-05-27%2008-45-23.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1586293 Title: Hard to identify package name in Danish translation of update description To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-notifier/+bug/1586293/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
