I am wondering if this bug was resovled in one of the updates. I am unable to
reproduce this bug. My system also does not have any problems w/ the _ in the
entries in kmenu.
Can someone please update the status of this bug,

The solution is:
Go to K > System Settings > Regional & Language >
Under the Locale tab, select your location in the top right drop down list

This is a major usability issue. This should be set to critical if not

Should this really be low priority? Imagine you are migrating from
windows, you are not a power user and you have never used KDE before.
One of the first things you would find on logging in would be this very
