Hello, the newer alsa that supports also your sound chips is in Hardy
which will be released in a day. That's how progress progresses :-)

sound isn't working for me either, I'm running gutsy-i386. The following
lines workaround my problems:
wget ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-1.0.15rc3.tar.bz2
tar -jxvf alsa-driver-1.0.15rc3.tar.bz2
cd alsa-driver-1.0.15rc3/
./configure --with-cards=hda-intel make
sudo make
