Public bug reported: My UA 700 works in audacity as an audio device, but the hardware midi does not work (in rosegarden, for example). Hardware midi seems to be disabled by default. I do have timidity installed. Also, it is not possible to select the device in Alsa Mixer (under File --> Change device). It isn't listed.
