gnome-language-selector does not do any updates by itself. The effect
you describe is most likely that some language-packages are not
installed yet and langauge-selector notices when it is run. if that is
what you have seen, then please reassign to language-selector.
I close the hardy task until the bug is out of incomplete again.

I agree. I've targeted it for Hardy. It doesn't qualify for the stable

E.g. the Norwegian translation that comes with Gutsy is far from done. The
update is crucial
