Public bug reported: ZFS on Linux provide a handy script for automatically creating hourly, weekly, and monthly snapshots of ZFS pools. I can't think of a good reason for it not being packaged with the official Ubuntu ZFS support. The ZoL PPA includes the script and crontabs, so why isn't in the official repositories too?
