Animated cursors don't animate in Unity8

Sorry, I should have tested it. But The new qtmir release in yakkety with:
lp:~dandrader/qtmir/consecutiveCustomCursors
Does not fix this bug at all. If anything it's now much worse (cursor
not only doesn't animate but also pauses and stops responding to
movement too).

This bug was fixed in the package qtmir - 0.4.8+16.10.20160810-0ubuntu1
---
qtmir (0.4.8+16.10.20160810-0ubuntu1) yakkety; urgency=medium

* Reduce MirServer to an implementation detail of QMirServer (nothing
else needs to touch it).
[ Albert Astals Cid ]
Confusingly this fix is documented in the changelog as first appearing in:
qtmir (0.4.8+16.10.20160730-0ubuntu1) yakkety; urgency=medium
However that release never existed. yakkety is really still on version:
qtmir (0.4.8+16.10.20160714-0ubuntu1) yakkety; urgency=medium
So you won't see any fix

I have a suspicion this is the same issue as what's causing Xmir apps to
show incorrect cursors, at least sometimes.
