This is not a clean install of gutsy but rather an upgraded version.
Using the latest gutsy, I have been getting this in my .xsession-errors:
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/40guidance-displayconfig_restore: 11:
/usr/bin/displayconfig-restore: not found
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/40guidance-displayconfig_restore probably needs to
go.
