unadvised patch in Ubuntu for the feature.

I did a quick look through some of the relevant RFCs and it does appear
that based on those requirements the 5 character minimum is arbitrary.

I think this is more of a feature enhancement than a bug. So far as I
can determine the 5-character minimum is arbitrary rather than dictated
by technical requirements. I've certainly not seen any problems in using
it.
I've made a version available in my PPA. This simply alters the
"strlen() < 5"
Have you contacted upstream gnupg developers about this change? It
seems like there must be a reason for the 5 character limit. Can you
file this bug upstream too?
