The desktop is not intended to be visible to users, because there is
NoDisplay=true in the .desktop file because it is used for xdg-
autostart. Please report bugs to relevant packages where "NoDisplay"
isn't properly supported.

Could you clarify what do you mean by "open when selected from menu"?
Fcitx itself is a daemon program that lives in desktop sessions (started
by im-config), which would not need to be started by clicking the
desktop menu.
