With some more testing I have found that the issue takes a few seconds (maybe between 3 and 5, but reasonably long) to appear when I first log in (I have not yet tested with the lock screen). I have also noticed that it is not present in the Activities Overview and takes a few moments to reappear

I removed the nautilus (Ubuntu) task since technically this does not appear to affect the version of Nautilus in the archives. The Ubuntu Desktop team has enough bugs to deal with that eliminating PPA-only issues is a help to them. The GNOME 3 Staging PPA for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS should have
