Just found that there is also a setting for the gnome file upload dialogue, so that path can be entered as text on default, not requiring the user to press ctrl-l: In dconf-editor, set org->gtk->file- chooser->location mode to "filename entry". ** Package changed: firefox (Ubuntu) => gtk+3.0

I just found a solution: In the file upload dialogue, hit Ctrl-l to bring up to the address line instead of the path bar. It would be nice, if the address bar were there on default, or if there would be a hint on the bottom of the box, how to bring it up. If this should stop working at some point

I noticed that there is a similar issue with the path bar in Nautilus, this however, can be resolved either with ubuntu-tweaks (Tweaks -> File Manager -> Use the location entry instead of the pathbar -> On) of the dconf-editor ( org –> gnome –> nautilus –> preferences -> always-use-
